Richard Abanes Refutes Eckhart Tolle - Sort Of

Richard Abanes Refutes Eckhart Tolle - Sort Of

Author and journalist Richard Abanes has written
a book responding to Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth"
and "exposing" his teachings as... What?

Well, from the press release on PRWeb, his book
"A New Earth, An Old Deception" he effectively
refutes several of his own interpretations of Mr.
Tolle's teachings. Unfortunately (IMHO) he has
them all wrong.

Here are a few of the things purported to be debunked:
  • Who or what is God--and is God separate from us?
  • Does Tolle accurately interpret the Bible?
  • Is everyone essentially "One" with all that exists?
  • Is evil real, or do we only perceive it as real?
  • Are all religions equally false/true and do they all teach a single core Truth?
  • Is suffering just an illusion of our mind?
Quite frankly my own Christian faith neither wants
nor desires for Mr Abanes to expose anything about
what Eckhart Tolle teaches. If he does not find the
content to be helpful to his own spiritual journey,
he is free to move on.

In my experience, this kind of closed minded critique
is really unnecessary for those able to reason for them-
selves. I cannot say that I agree with all that Mr Tolle
holds to be true, but have found much to be instructive
and quite useful. None of this has been any kind of
threat to my Christianity.

Evidently a response to Mr. Tolle was deemed necessary
(or perhaps profitable) due to the huge sales of "A New
Earth" as well as "The Power of Now". And no, I have
no more of a problem with Mr. Abanes making money
from his books than I do with Eckhart Tolle getting his
royalties. Perhaps next time Richard Abanes could
earn his offering something of his own, instead of just
panning a work that at least attempts to assist people
with their own spiritual journeys.

Read the PRWeb Press Release HERE
and then make up your own mind on his
works merits.

Because as always, all of this is just MHO...

Eat a peach!

Mr. Tolle's book A New Earth is only meant to be an aid to anyone who is seeking to find the peace and understanding within themselves. It is not meant to be an interpretation of the Bible. Mr. Tolle wrote a great book and it helped many people.

I was not able to access the link in your blog and was not able to locate the press release from Mr. Richard Abanes.

This is of course MHO.

Mr. Tolle's book A New Earth was a well written personal interpretation of a journey to gain inner peace. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, however I found the book extremely enlightening.

Dear Friends,

This is not a matter of attacking, or hating, or seeking to suppress anyone's right to share their spirituality. My book "A New Earth, An Old Deception" and its discussion of Tolle's views is a direct response to his initial assertions that what he teaches is supported by not only the Bible, but specifically, the teachings of Jesus.

As a Christian who has followed Christ for many years, and also as someone who has studied the Bible with a passion and love for it, I felt it my calling to share with others an alternate view so that people who are seeking truth might find the truth.

Tolle has some insightful and thoughtful observations, but where he quotes the Bible to support his views, I must respectfully and humbly share another viewpoint in the interest of people having a clear choice between what he is alleging and what the Bible states.

I thank you, and bid you peace.

Tolle is a fraud. Read the book which exposes him for his lies. "A New Earth, an Old Deception" written by Richard Abanes.

Abanes will show you the Bible vs. Tolle in plain comparison.

Don't be deceived!

For those who would like to read an interesting article that explores Eckhart Tolle in the light of a more comprehensive spiritual path, this one is viewable on the insight21 website:

The Limits of Mysticism - Eckhart Tolle meets anthroposophy

(Anthroposophy versus mysticism - a comparative exploration of key modern spiritual paths, using the perspectives of Eckhart Tolle, Rudolf Steiner, and Georg Kuhlewind.)

Kudos to Eckhart Tolle for many good points of spiritual application, but a responsible seeker also needs to move beyond what he has to offer.

Mr Eckhart Tolle is absoultely correct in his views. I don't understand the problems with Mr. Richard..!! Why is he clining to Christianity so much ? No Jesus is going to him salvation..!! Death happens just like Sleep.., Does he know what does he do in sleep? Similarly one can never know what happens in death, or after it, becoz it is eternal sleep. No question of Jesus coming & bringing you to heaven.. !! And if u are so eager to be in heaven, then u can be in, right Now, in here & Now, that's what Eckhart is telling us..!! & he is telling us to be so aware, that even in sleep u will be aware, & then the time can come, when even the death will occur to the body, but u will be aware,, & a point can come what the sages say Enlightement or Jesus says Salvation, where u will be pure consciousness, ur duality will cease to exist..!! This is heaven..!!
